CLARASONIC reclassifies these materials under the name SONIC PVC foam using our own coding system which identifies the material density.

GENERAL INFORMATION -
PVC rigid foams are able to be used in similar applications as ROHACELL where SONIC foam is used as an inner core that is sandwiched between a top & bottom composite skin such as glass fiber.
​
Unlike ROHACELL, SONIC PVC rigid foams are not good for making thermal formed parts as high heat applied to the surface may damage the cell structure so it becomes soft.
​
However, SONIC foams have no issue with humidity and materials are often used with products made for salt water applications.
​
Ideal applications of SONIC PVC rigid foams are use in hand layup, vacuum bagging, resin infusion and similar methods - so when used in these composites constructions the material is an excellent choice.
​
Although the approx. weight of SONIC PVC rigid foams are approx. 2x heavier than that of ROHACELL, the advantages of the materials are that the cost is less than 1/2 of ROHACELL - making it an affordable solution.

SONIC S-41
S-41 is the lowest density PVC rigid foam available as well as the lowest cost material we offer.
​
S-41 is available at thicknesses ranging from 1mm and higher.
​
S-41 is one of our most popular solutions for RC aircraft with materials shipping to world-wide customers which include both manufacturers of RC aircraft as well as hobbyists.
​
Minimum order = 1 single sheet at 120cm x 240cm \ 47 1/4" x 94.5" & can be rolled up for low cost shipment.
SONIC S-61
S-61 is our mid density \ mid cost material solution and our most popular seller of PVC rigid foams.
​
S-61 has a tighter cell structure than S-41 which minimizes resin intake + higher strength.
​
Similar to S-41, S-61 is very popular for RC aircraft applications as well as similar types of products.
​
Minimum order = 1 single sheet at 120cm x 240cm \ 47.25" x 94.5" & can be rolled up for low cost shipment.
SONIC S-81
S-81 is our high density \ higher cost material solution which is often used as an inner core for surfboards.
​
S-81 is an ideal solution where high strength at affordable cost is desired.
​
S-81 is available from sheet thicknesses ranging from 1mm and higher with a tight cell structure for low resin intake.
​
S-81 is currently be evaluated as a inner core solution for composite skateboard which we may offer soon.
